Soldier's Duty (Open to whomst'v'r pleases) Empty Soldier's Duty (Open to whomst'v'r pleases)

Post by Lingwasta Manager 3/4/2018, 04:00

"Nevnski, gotta run a few... errands. You don't mind if I ditch these with you, right?"

Kir looked up from his desk. Piles of paper already littered the surface. All were from other lazy MP's who wouldn't think twice about shoving their own work into a responsible man's face. There were three piles of paperwork. The stack to the left side of his desk were papers ready to be archived or forwarded to higher-ups. A messy pile off to the right was work he had yet to get started. Between the two, directly in front of the man, were a few sheets of paper he was currently working on. A lot was disorganized. Without being given an office, Kir had to do everything in his sleeping quarters.

Kir put on an unamused facial expression as the man at his door held up more work. He exhaled through his nose and slumped back in his seat. Accepting the fact that he won't get a break any time soon, he dismissively waved at the other soldier. The lazy MP's face cracked a smile as he quickly stepped in and slapped a few papers right in front of Kir.

"Thanks!"

That was all that was said by the man as he swiftly left the room, leaving the door wide open. Kir lifted a hand to his face and rubbed his right eye. Mental exhaustion slowly crept into his head with each passing minute. The workloads being forced onto his shoulders seemed neverending. It was clear that the Military Police Brigade would've been - more or less - completely useless if it wasn't for diamonds in the rough such as Kir himself, or Captain Katlewande and his merry men.

His arms crossed over his chest. His eyes slowly scanned every line written on the sheet given to him. He wasn't 'all there' as he read it. Kir was spacing out as his care and patience left his body. A few specific words that he managed to comprehend was what broke him from his trance. Nevnski blinked, then leaned forward and took the paper to hold it close to his face. His eyes narrowed, concentrating carefully on every word written. It was a letter. A letter to a higher ranking officer, asking for a few things to make their jobs easier and more rewarding. Summed up, it was a plea for less work and more pay, since being in the Military Police was such a strain for everyone.

The letter was crumpled up and tossed into a corner of the room. Kir got up from his seat and strode over to a nightstand next to his bed. Sitting on it was a glass bottle of hard liquor. It was about eight inches tall and rectangular in shape. The bottle was dark brown with a label on it, reading "Darwyn's Finest". Despite the name, the booze was cheap in quality and in price, but it was all Kir needed to keep him going. Anything better would be saved for a special occasion.

Picking up the bottle and feeling its weight told that only a shot was left. Kir frowned. He only had this before he ran dry. The tall man wrapped his lips around the mouth of the bottle's neck and turned it upside down. The burning liquids ran down his throat and into his belly. The growing tiredness in his mind then lifted. The taste of fire lingered on his tongue and cheeks. It was like a sip of heaven. A crappy kind of heaven. A sudden knock on the doorframe startled Kir. Instinctively, he quickly turned to see who it was and hid the bottle behind his back. Another MP stood there, clipboard in hand. Not another lazy patrolman, but someone higher in rank.

"Nevnski," he said, "your name's been picked from the hat for tax collection." The soldier's head turned, examining the room. The only thing that looked out of place was the immense quantities of paper on his small desk. The soldier didn't pay it any mind and held out the clipboard. "Just follow the route you've been given and don't do any unnecessary shenanigans."

"Yes sir," Kir stepped forward and took the clipboard from the officer with one hand and looked it over. The officer disappeared into the hallway. On the first of few papers clipped to the board was a map of a few city blocks. A black, arrowed line went through the streets, marking his path. There were numerous houses and buildings marked. From the looks of it, this new job could take quite a bit of time...

More work to add to his to-do list. More stress and exhaustion awaited. The frustration of having a lot more to be done filled him. He growled and tossed the clipboard down on his desk. He paced around his room, angrily mumbling to himself and cursing his colleagues. In a fit of rage, he tightened his grip on the bottle hidden behind his back and threw it. Instead of it smashing against a wall or any other surface where he could potentially clean, the bottle was launched out the window. Kir's eyes grew wide upon realizing what he had done. The window and blinds had been opened a while ago to let in some air. This irrational action led to the bottle falling onto the stone street below and exploding on impact. The way that it had sounded when it had smashed onto the ground implied that no one was hurt, but anyone around was surely frightened.

Kir sighed with disappointment in himself. He figured that the faster he starts collecting tax money, the less of a chance he has to get chewed out by an angry citizen that now has bits of glass in their new hat.

Soldier's Duty (Open to whomst'v'r pleases) Empty Re: Soldier's Duty (Open to whomst'v'r pleases)

Post by Sevyne Reizbar 12/4/2018, 06:55

It was a fairly average day for Sevyne, the sun was out, people were happy and she had little no worries- as a matter of fact she was having a day all to herself. No frantically trying to pull apart two teenagers before they started brawling over some silly thing like a girl, and most certainly not listening to complaints about a neighbors dog crapping in their yard. She was even taking a break from her squad, praying that they didn't wreck everything while she was gone. While she normally preferred to stay within Wall Rose, she figured it was okay to venture out once in a while, plus here she wasn't recognized by every civilian around. She couldn't tell you how many times a day she was stopped by an old lady offering her cookies as a reward for 'always keeping an eye out'. To be honest being in the position she was in really gets tiring sometimes but in the end seeing their smiles makes it worth it.

But enough of all that depressing work talk, today was her day, all to her self and absolutely nothing would get in her way of enjoying it! Of course it just so happened that she spotted a shiny object falling from the sky..directly towards a civilian. Without a second thought, she tackled the poor lad out of the way while yelling in an commanding voice- "Get Down!"  Of course everyone in the general vicinity immediately dropped to the ground, fearing they were under attack by flying..bottles? A mere second later the bottle crashed to the ground splintering into thousands of pieces. Sevyne being the attentive woman she was immediately noticed what type of bottle it was that was thrown and saw red.
"I SWEAR TO MURPHY, IF IT WAS ONE OF YOU SO CALLED 'POLICEMEN' THAT THREW THAT BOTTLE I'LL HANG YOU BY YOUR ENTRAILS!"

Within a flash she was gone dropping the man she had tackled to safety and rushing towards the building that it came from, shoving aside anyone that was in her way until she arrived at the entrance of the room from whence the bottle came, leaving a very confused crowd outside. She immediately attempted to grab a rather tired looking man by his collar and slam him into the nearest wall, glaring daggers at him full of fury. "What the hell were you thinking!? What if someone had gotten hit by that you moron!"

Soldier's Duty (Open to whomst'v'r pleases) Empty Re: Soldier's Duty (Open to whomst'v'r pleases)

He had only taken two steps. Two steps from his door and karma's already back to bite him in the ass. He knew something was amiss when he heard the grunts and rude calls of other policemen and policewomen being pushed aside. Kir had stopped, stood near the wall to clear a path for that person in a hurry. Perhaps, he hoped, it was just someone in a rush to look for an object they had dropped?

It was a woman from the Garrison. Odd. Why would a Wall Guard be here?

What had really surprised Kir was the strength in such a small woman. Letting out a dry grunt, his back was immediately mashed up against the wall behind him. He dropped his clipboard and pencil, both laid at their feet. The collar of his jacket was in a tight grip. Too tight for his enjoyment. His slim hands wrapped around her wrist and tried to remove the woman's iron clutches. Any and all attempts he made to free himself were futile, and judging by how strong she was, he was but a twig trying to move a stone - a very heavy stone. Under his furrowed brow, his narrowed eyes scanned both ways down the hall, silently pleading for someone's help. Nobody came to aid him. Instead, they all either stood to watch at a safe distance or walk away. Cowards.

"What the hell were you thinking?!" the woman with red hair shouted at his face.

"What if someone had gotten hit by that, you moron!" she continued to yell. He felt the guilt of his blunder seep into his soul, as told by the look in his eye. Such careless acts really could have injured a civilian, perhaps even kill them.

Kir decided to play dumb in a final effort to evade this humiliating punishment. Through clenched teeth, he muttered "Th' hell are you rambling about?! I haven't done anything!" Again, he tried taking her hands off of him. He didn't succeed. "I'm on duty! Let go of me, you psycho!" It was moments like this (despite this being the first event of this type to ever occur) that would prevent Kir from obtaining his much-needed break. He'd be damned if he got off scott-free after this.

This was not a good day.

Soldier's Duty (Open to whomst'v'r pleases) Empty Re: Soldier's Duty (Open to whomst'v'r pleases)

Post by Sevyne Reizbar 13/4/2018, 17:46

If Sevyne's eyes weren't full of fury before, now they were scathing with scorn. Did he really think that playing dumb would trick her, after he looked like he swallowed a grape as soon as she mentioned someone almost getting hurt- on top of that the whole time this exchange was going on he was trying but failing to let her hands free of his collar. The man must have not been very smart, or strong especially if he thought that she wouldn't notice the flash of guilt on his face. However that wasn't even what had increased her rage, what had really set her off, was the fact that not a single one of his so called- 'comrades' has even tried to stop her, or even defend him. If she was back at the wall, she would had multiple comrades come to her aid as well as a large group of civilians - she didn't even want to imagine the disarray that would occur, should some of these people face a titan.

She would then lighten her grip on him only a bit, before suddenly tightening it and muttering in a rather audible manner. "Cowards..the lot of you." Without a second thought, she began to drag the poor man down the hall towards the exit of the building. To some the scene might even appear comical, if not for the fact that as soon as an MP even glanced at the duo they would receive a glare worse than the one she gave the man in her grasp earlier, and a tirade that would last in their memories for the rest of the day. "Mind your own damn business! If you're too afraid to pull the stick out of your rear and help you're moronic buddy over here, then you have no business even looking at him!" After that, she didn't even bother looking at them to see if they listened to her- she just continued to drag the poor man outside. She was happy to see that many of the civilians were still there looking confused as ever, including the man that had almost been struck by the projectile.

Soon, more groups of civilians began to come around interested at the small commotion she had caused, and soon a moderately large crowd had grown. While this was going on Sevyne would toss the man, whose name she didn't know yet onto the ground in front of the man she had pushed away from the dangerous bottle.
"Apologize to him for throwing that bottle. Now." Her voice was no longer anger fueled, simply composed and commanding as if she had become a completely different person.

Soldier's Duty (Open to whomst'v'r pleases) Empty Re: Soldier's Duty (Open to whomst'v'r pleases)

Post by Lingwasta Manager 15/4/2018, 08:39

The fear of getting his ass kicked grew stronger and stronger the more and more he was choked out by the woman. Definitely, he would've fought back if it weren't for his thin frame. Even if it was useless, he still tried to free himself, but it just looked all the more pathetic. His eyes dashed around, looking at his fellow MP's, silently calling for their help. No one came. Instead, some of them tried to contain laughter.

She had loosened her grip, just by a bit. Relief washed over Kir, only for it to be squandered as her iron clutch turned into one of steel. The redhead berated the other MP's, calling them cowards. It was true. Kir wanted to say something too. Reinforce her statement by calling them out with her. He opened his mouth to speak, only to be quickly shut up as he was dragged away, down the corridor.

"Hey! Stop!" he shouted to the red-haired woman. She didn't. Kir tried reaching out to grab the clipboard. It was just out of reach, but he still continued to frantically grope in the direction of his assignment. The clipboard got smaller as he was forced away, then it disappeared once they rounded a corner.

"Someone, help!" Kir would yell to the other MP's they'd pass. "Arrest her! She can't do this!"

What the woman had told them as she dragged his sorry ass away effectively wiped the grins from their faces. How dare she call him moronic? It was true to some extent, but it still hurt his feelings a tad bit. (It wasn't his fault he didn't have the privilege to attend a school.) Dirt collected on his clothes and hands as he was slid across the grimy floor surfaces and eventually outside, which got him even dirtier. Finally, he was let go in the form of a toss, right in the centre of a gathered crowd.

Kir let out a sharp grunt as he hit the street. He lay on his back, staring up at the angry lady, who now seemed calm, and the numerous civilians crowded around. One stood out from the rest of them. A man. The man he almost injured, possibly almost killed. She demanded Kir to apologize.
Kir rolled onto his stomach, then pulled himself up to his knees. His hands rested on his thighs. He raised his head and carefully looked at each and every single person in the eyes. They all stared at him, angry. Some of them even looked unamused, as if they expected the Military Police Brigade to behave like this. Kir was almost sick with himself. What he had done could've resulted in a trip to the hospital for someone. Another wave of guilt washed over him. He was supposed to protect the people. Even if they were bourgeoisie swine.

Kir dipped his head, unable to make himself look them in the eye further, and spoke sincerely. His voice sounded weak and defeated. "I'm sorry," he simply started, "I was the one who threw that bottle. I take full responsibility for my actions."

Soldier's Duty (Open to whomst'v'r pleases) Empty Re: Soldier's Duty (Open to whomst'v'r pleases)

Post by Sevyne Reizbar 18/4/2018, 23:38

Sevyne kept her arms crossed and raised a delicate eyebrow as the man began to look around at the large crowd, waiting for him to attempt to run or berate her for humiliating him the was she was, but what he had done next had really surprised her. He actually apologized, and in a rather sincere manner as well, which if she was being honest shocked her. All of her encounters with the MP including the ones back in the office, showed that they were arrogant pigs, who had no right being arrogant as they were truly cowards. Yet despite all of her previous encounters with the MP, here was one groveling at the feet of a civilian and sounding actually sorry.  What truly was amazing however was the faces of the civilians around, they were dumbfounded- there was a policeman groveling to one of them, basically begging for forgiveness in an actually sincere manner. For a moment there was a completely still silence, until finally the man who was being apologized to decided to speak up."No worries dude, I wasn’t harmed so uhh..forgiven”

Immediately after his apology the crowd seeing how easily the MP had groveled suddenly gained an unknown confidence and began to let out boo’s, their glares only growing more intense, some even picking up rocks in preparation to throw them at the poor unnamed MP. One man even began to egg on the group “Coward, he should be punished for what he did, stone him!”The man who had been apologized instantly gained a fearful look and scurried away. Sevyne seeing this let out an annoyed sigh, one nice MP and immediately everyone thought that they were in charge. Walking in front of the grovelling MP she immediately turned to the crowd, and levelled them with the harshest glare of the day, making a few of them even flinch back. “Put the rocks down. Now. Doing this only is going to breed more hate, and make you just as bad as them, now leave!” After a brief silence, the crowd immediately began to disperse some murmuring in disappointment while others scoffing in sarcastic scorn.

After the ordeal was over, she turned towards the MP if he didn’t run away already and looked at him with a neutral gaze. “Now that’s over I might as well learn your name, mines Sevyne.”
