Auth had received word roughly five minutes ago. One minute and a half ago, already done with preparations, he had received word that Renn was in Mitras, for some reason or another. Ten seconds ago, one of his contacts gave him Renn's last seen location; the information was thirty minutes stale. Still, chances were good he was still at the tavern.

Two minutes later, he was entering the tavern. He cared little about the fact half the town will speak of the nobleman storming off on horseback, in full gallop, through the streets of Mitras. Immediately, he asked the barkeep about the albino staying here. he received the usual answer of 'protecting his client's privacy'. A few coins later, Auth was going up the stairs with a copy of the key to Renn's room. Once there, he knocked, then unlocked the door and entered anyway. He was prepared to jump out of the way of an incoming knife, should it prove necessary.

"Wait. Listen"

His words were spoken regardless of what Renn was trying to do, because anything he would do, from talking to attacking him, would waste time. Valuable, valuable time.

"I need your help. Cora has been captured. I'll pay whatever you ask for your services."

Now, he had to await an answer. Damn it. Time was ticking. Cora had already been in there for a week, at least. Perhaps more. Damn it. That damn lord Marvin, how did he know who she had been?! Someone was selling info. Someone thought it would be funny to tell the newly enraged Marvin who it was that stole his documents and doomed him to death. Someone thought it would be interesting to doom Cora to as much torture as it could be.

Question one, who?

Question two, why?

Answer to both: irrelevant right now. Now, Cora had to be rescued. Everything had been going too well. The Hawk had accepted to give testimony in court, and Auth had struck his deal with said Hawk flawlessly. As soon as the trial was over, before the criminal leader's trial could begin, he'd sneak in the key to his cell. It was all the ex-pack member needed to escape. Marvin would've been convicted, he would've gained allies, everything was perfect.

Except this.

Why was Cora captured?! Matters now. Important was only the fact this could not be allowed to persist.

Because Auth cared about her. So what if she was used to pain? So what if she was a tough mercenary? She was still someone he cared about. His friend. And thus, it was his duty to not allow this to continue a second more, if he could stop it. And he will.

And Marvin will get a traitor's death. Not even hanged. Drawn and quartered, he'd be. The fat pig.

Death.

Auth's mind was slowly getting past the initial burst of adrenaline, and falling into the cold, icy thought process of a clear, simple goal: 1. Rescue Cora, 2. Convict Marvin, 3. Destroy all of remains of him or his memory.

He'd pay.
Dearly.

A knock on the door, Renn stepped away from his window and stated curiously at the door. He wasn't expecting anyone and he told the barkeep to leave him alone. How unusual.

Before Renn could call out to ask or even take a step, the door swung open. The Yarckel Alpha placed a hand on his waist, ready to draw a knife.

"Wait. Listen."

Now the Snake was intrigued. Auth vi Rauco had barged into his rented room. Apart from the recent mission he'd been on, he hasn't steeped near the vi Rauco name or interests to draw such a powerful man's attention. So there definitely some other means to the politician's visit.

"I need your help. Cora has been captured. I'll pay whatever you ask for your services.".

Oh. That's why. At least he now knows Cora and Auth have a definite connection, that'll have to be looked into.
König chuckled.

"I thought you were going to arressssst me, then. That's a relief. If you are close to Cora though, you know ssssshe can look after herself."

Renn took his hand away from his concealed Dagger and stepped back over to the window, staring out.
He wore a concentrated face as he did so and spoke once more with a solemn tone, as if looking for something.

"It does concern me a little bit though... whoever may be after Cora could be targeting all the Alphas of the Pack... and I jusssssst can't let that happen."

An MP was navigating their way through the busy street below and Renn watched him with a piercing stare. He had been studying this MPs route from this vantage point for the short while he had been in Mitras. He hoped following this MP would lead him closer to the dungeons and, more importantly, closer to the Watcher.

Renn was not against helping him. That was good. He was not the most keen on helping either, so that was bad.

"I have certain sources. Cora has been a prisoner for more than a week. She can not take care of herself like this." Auth changed tones to a less stern one, for a moment. "Then, if it affects you too, perfect; you hit two birds with one stone: get rid of a possible threat and get paid for doing it."

Auth waited a slight more until Renn looked back to him. He didn't know what Renn was eyeing so sternly outside, but he frankly did not care right now, either. He motioned him to follow.

"We should hurry, though. Who knows what hell Cora is being put through right now..." He made a step towards the outside. "Get prepared as fast as you can, then meet me at the stables outside.

With that, Auth stormed back out. On the way, he dropped the key back to the barkeep, then he went on to checking what he had available. Mask, check. Poisons, check. Assorted antidotes, check. Weapons, already on his person. Body armour, same. MP backup sometime in the near future, check. Nile Doc had enough trust in him to actually send down a squad as soon as possible, but possible could be much later than what they needed. He sighed, and leaned on the wall of the tavern.

Now, to formulate a plan. They were going to be storming the basement of a really rich building in Mitras. To their luck, the building was out-of-the-way, so likely to have no bystanders. Likely to be heavily defended, though. They had to get in as quickly as they could, because outside they were too exposed to possible gunfire. At the same time, the guards were probably much less skilled at close quarters fighting than him, and even more so compared to Renn. Auth checked his pouch again. He did remember to take the bombs Sangwa had gotten someone to tinker on. One of them had a heavy blast, but went wide. Perfect for breaking down a section of wall to bar a path or create one. Or create a diversion. The other one was much more elegant, a glass ball filled with needles and poison, and inside it the explosive charge. It would fill anyone in a few meters radius with deadly shrapnel, and even a scratch was enough to guarantee death within minutes. Both could be used to great benefit.

The only problem that remained... was Cora herself. Hopefully, there was nobody in the same room as her, so she couldn't be used as victim. And hopefully Renn didn't take this as the perfect opportunity to get rid of a rival Alpha.

This was going to be a long day.

It was a good thing Renn didn't care about first impressions... because Auth didn't have a good one. Barged in, demanded help and left abruptly. What if the Alpha had been on a job? It didn't matter because, as much as Renn hated to admit, Auth was right.

Two birds, one soon to be bloody stone.
König peeled himself away from the window and packed his things, which didn't take long as he was a light traveller.

Payment, hm? Whatever he asked. That's actually useful. Renn already knew what he wanted but should he waste it on such a rare deal? That's quite a decision. It would have to be for now.

Renn walked pass the barkeep, leaving a pouch of coins on the bar as payment for the room. He may have payed a little too much but he wasn't concerned, nothing a small job couldn't earn.

The Snake stepped outside a took a deep breath. He quickly appeared at the stables, not in a rush but wasting no time.

"Although I'm ssssure Cora can handle such situations, I cannot turn down your deal of paying anything I ask for and I've decided that payment for ssssuch shall be: access to the Watcher and future sssservice from you."

Renn smiled, proceeding to prepare his horse and getting ready to mount.

"You did say anything after all and I feel that'sssss a fair deal after pulling me away from a well devised plan and important matters to attend to. What a wassssste of a week."

Renn climbed onto his horse and pulled up his hood. This was going to be nasty for whoever he now had to deal with. To make a job quick, mercy has to be forgotten about.

Wolves and Men, Part IV - Fresh Scars (closed: Herdir, Mitsuo, Cornix) Empty Re: Wolves and Men, Part IV - Fresh Scars (closed: Herdir, Mitsuo, Cornix)

Post by Herdir 14/6/2018, 22:51

As Renn came back, he phrased his payment request. Access to the Watcher? But of course. He did not specify that there wouldn't be bars in-between them, so there was no risk to the latter. And once the Watcher escaped, well, it's not like Auth could 'offer access' anymore. Not officially, anyway. As for 'future service', well, it wasn't like Auth didn't by default reserve the right to refuse anything putting him at too much risk or too taxing on a political situation. This had been a good deal; the money would've hurt more, and, well, this could or could not be the beginning of a brilliant partnership.

As Auth got on his own horse, he answered. "Well, I can certainly grease some palms and have you meet the Watcher, but there's really only so much power that I hold." This was true. He himself could only see the Watcher on token occasions, so he was anyway unable to provide 24/7 access. "As for future service, well, I'm not turning myself into a slave for this. However, there's plenty little things I can nudge in the right direction, help some faction or another strengthen... and in consequence the individuals leading them..."

He started galloping towards their destination. It would be mere minutes, really. "And, please. This will take an hour of your 'precious' time. Unless we get captured or killed, but I trust you're skilled enough to not be. After all, Cora got essentially backstabbed into there; we're the ones stabbing in the back now". He let the rest of the trip be silent, until he drew the horse into a different stable. He proceeded to take his bag from the horse, then lead Renn through a set of alleys.

"From here on out, it's enemy territory. You'll have to follow my lead until we get to the main building, and once there we're headed for the basement. I happen to have floor plans, if you're interested." He threw Renn the paper with them. Possessing a copy of the floor plans of literally every building in Mitras did have clear benefits. "Unfortunately, we can't keep low. It's going to be a shock break-enter-exit job, so put on the tough face, not the low profile one." In the meantime, Auth affixed the pair of bombs in two round pouches filled with soft fur, then put those on his belt. Next up, he donned the mask of the Black Crow.

Once that was on, he titled his head sideways at Renn, almost as a 'Ha, see, I'm full of surprises'.

"Shall we?"

His voice was the Crow's now. Distorted beyond recognition, that was.

Time to make whomever was behind this cower in fear.

Wolves and Men, Part IV - Fresh Scars (closed: Herdir, Mitsuo, Cornix) Empty Re: Wolves and Men, Part IV - Fresh Scars (closed: Herdir, Mitsuo, Cornix)

Post by Mitsuo Shimura 15/6/2018, 00:19

Renn started disliking Auth more and more. Not that he had nothing against Auth, just that his hatred for commands was bubbling to surface once more. It was one reason to become Alpha, after all, to get rid of orders. Ok, so he was a hired dagger now but still, could at least be polite about it.

Renn rolled his eyes.
Enemy territory? Not a problem. Following your lead? No promises. Basement? Not surprised, it's always the basement.

König caught the floor plans, stuffing them in his coat. He'd look at them if he needed them but for now, he was 'following the lead'.

"Unfortunately, we can't keep low. It's going to be a shock break-enter-exit job, so put on the tough face, not the low profile one."

Now that was music to the Snake's ears. He lowered his hood, pulled out a dagger in each hand and had his predatorial grin plastered on his face.

That grin faltered for a second as Renn watched Auth equip the Black Crow mask. The Yarckel Alpha raised his eyebrows a little. He was a little confused, but it made sense. He was a little surprised but somehow could have expected that. In general, he was disappointed he didn't get to find that out for himself.

Oh well. Now he knows Auth has secrets. Or, at least, could keep them. Big ones at that. The man that stood in front of Renn had suddenly become a shadow of mysteries to the albino. Although annoying... solving people's mysteries was practically a hobby for Renn.

"Shall we?"

"We sssshall!"

Renn moved forward and peered around the alley to see. There was the door... and two guards with rifles. Damn. Can't just waltz on in after quietly taking them out.

...

Or can they?
Renn quickly rummaged his person, eventually finding an area he could rip off of his shirt and tie it around his neck, covering up his collar scar. He then moved his hair from his right eye to his left, covering up the scar on his face.
He quickly raised his hood and hid the two daggers he had loosely in his coat sleeves.

Time to hope this tick still worked.
Renn stumbled out of the alleyway, looking around with a distraught expression. Upon 'noticing' the guards, he jogged over to them, still acting terrified.

"E-excuse me, but I'm lost? I don't suppose y-you could point back to the main street?"

The guards looked at Renn, puzzled, before looking at each other. It seemed a bit of suspicion had been raised and one guard took a step forward.
Before anything could progress, Renn took both daggers from his sleeves and stabbed both guards throats.

The slumped to the floor, leaving the bloodied blades in the Snake's grasp. That was taken care of... time to meet who's inside.

König gave a hard kick to the door, making it swing open.

Wolves and Men, Part IV - Fresh Scars (closed: Herdir, Mitsuo, Cornix) Empty Re: Wolves and Men, Part IV - Fresh Scars (closed: Herdir, Mitsuo, Cornix)

Auth held back as Renn made the guards look like utter, bumbling idiots. At the same time, he made a mental note that should he ever have guards like this, they'd be told to shoot first, ask questions second. Otherwise, well, this is what happened. With them down, Auth rushed to the door as well, entering to back up Renn. What followed was a quick exchanges to knife blades and pistol fire, and ended in two more guard corpses. They were truly nothing compared to the Hawks not so long ago.

Auth and Renn kept moving towards the stairs leading to the basement, slowly gaining more and more attention. Midway, Auth started unpacking the poison bomb. "Cover me for a second" He took the round ball out, and lit a fuse at a specific length. Now, with it in hand, he waited some more, to make sure the enemy was truly as gathered in the next room as he needed it, then rolled the bomb on a curved trajectory.

"Take cover" Auth threw himself behind a wardrobe, and hoped Renn found his own cover.

The enemy had been in that room for a while, probably too terrified to go out, given those that tried had found out Renn was a really good marksman with throwing knives. Now, however, they had about one second of looking at the odd glass ball rolling into their room, and the next thing was an explosion and screams. Good. This would mean they are left alone for a much better length of time now. To the basement it was.

The path had been clear, most of the guards still too afraid to make a move. Auth couldn't blame them. When two people entered the place you were guarding, and within mere minutes made a massacre of most of your friends, it was petty scary to try attacking them. Now, however, he was faced with the heavy steel door of the basement, full of padlocks. This would take an eternity to lockpick, and he didn't have the time to waste.

"Well, I've got another bomb just for this. Stay back." With that, he put little explosive charge right next to the door, balanced on the doorknob, then ran away quickly. The blast was stronger, but the damage area was shorter, due to lack of shrapnel. The locks, however, did not take this nicely, and all busted up.

As soon as it was done, Auth ran to the door and pushed it open.

He was not prepared for the sight that was inside...

Wolves and Men, Part IV - Fresh Scars (closed: Herdir, Mitsuo, Cornix) Empty Re: Wolves and Men, Part IV - Fresh Scars (closed: Herdir, Mitsuo, Cornix)

Post by cornix 15/6/2018, 17:43

The nightmare had begun with a simple mission she was requested to do. Her client had specifically asked for her, her, Cora, the leader of the pack. She was a bit confused for it, it was not anything unusual that she was asked personally for something but he was not a high ranking noble, neither did the mission seem anyhow...dangerous. Eventually she had accepted, the pay was high after all and she could really use some more money simply to improve her own pack, after all how dangerous COULD a mission in Mitras be? Apart from the fact that she wanted to get away from the other Alphas for a bit. It was quite tense having this many people that were not usually used to being on the same level as someone else around each other.

The mission had started out rather simple: Go to place, meet client at place, escort client to place, bodyguard client at place. She had assumed it was simply a contest on who had the more competent guards. Nec had suggested it was about good looking guards, but...she did not like the thought of that and thus shut him up. But her client did not make Nec's assumption better. He was nervous. As if he was actually going somewhere where his life would be in danger! After a way too short time he asked her about which weapons she prefered to fight with and which ones she was carrying on her right now. Cora had quickly dismissed the question by ensuring him that he would be safe and anyway not understand jack shit about what she was talking. Obviously she said this in a way more mannered version. Shortly after the 'lord' told her that he had also hired some other guards Cora got pissed and lost all the few manners she still had left. She was everything but a team player and even less so the moment she had to work together with other guards.
From this point onwards her day only got worse and worse.

Instead of going the usual ways you would expect a nobel to go, they decided to walk through the most shady areas Mitras
had. If she would have been alone she would have forced the noble to walk the slightly longer ways through the main streets, but both him and his guards insisted that this was way faster.
Once they were alone, not seen by any of the passing peasants the situation turned around. The 'guards' started fighting Cora. She managed to take out a few but eventually got defeated and knocked out.

And now it had been over a week since that incident. Since then Cora had been locked up in a dark room in someone else's cellar. When she woke up she found herself naked, tied to a chair, which was nailed down to the floor. Her whole body hurt from fighting but the pain was nothing compared to what would happen to her in the following days. In the beginning she was still fighting against everything they tried doing to her. In the beginning she still had the strength to fight back. In the beginning she still had the will to fight back. But it slowly faded over hours and hours of pain.
Nec, Vex and Cora all took over the body to give each other rest. Neither of them had been through so much unjustified pain before. For every single scar on her body up to that day there had been a reason for why she got it. There had been a reason for why she got punished. But this? This was senseless pain. They just did it to do it. Cora was a killer, no doubt about that. She had killed more people than she could count, she had tortured some, she had stripped them of their sanity in order to get to know their secrets. But this? Every single one of the wounds Cora had inflicted on someone had been for a reason, this was just pure madness. Purely for the fun of it. Or not even? Not even Vex was sure what it was for. He was
the one that would most likely understand killing for the sake of killing someone. But not even he understood it. He killed because it was fun, these people...they did not even seem to enjoy it all the time? They only enjoyed certain parts. And those were the parts all three of them feared. They could cope with the cutting, they could cope with the waterboarding, they could cope with almost any of your 'generic' torturing. But not this one thing. None of them wanted to take over, but unlike Nec or Vex, Cora did not have the ability to hide her conciousness unless she passed out. She had to endure it.
Nec's disgust did not make it better. He started cursing at Cora, making her feel even more ashamed of herself. He started shaming her for what they did to her. Vex on the other hand did not say anything as long as Nec was talking. He was not contradicting him, he was not agreeing with him but when Nec shut up and Cora was left alone with what was happening he started talking about it. He reminded her of it, he talked her through what happened. These were the points Cora just wished she could pass out or kill herself. But she could not. Her only way to get away from Nec or Vex was talking to herself. And only herself.

The pain and circumstances did not let Cora manage to just think whatever she wanted. She had to think about what was happening to her. But that was not what she wanted, Vex informed her well enough about what was happening, what happened and what was about to happen. So all she could think about was why it was happening. Why did they do this to her? Why did they do these unspeakable things to her? Why was it her? Why was she in this position? She got reminded of Alan. Alan who...was wondering why SHE did these things to others? Why was she killing? Why was she torturing? But behind her actions was a reason was it not? If she was killing it was because of what she had been through. It was because of what others had done to her that she repeated those same actions with other people!
She thought about Alan's death. How it was her fault. How it was her fault alone for getting him killed. She was the reason for his suffering. So she had to be the reasoning for her own suffering as well. Her mind could not let go of this thought. This had to be the reason! But some part of Cora did not agree. She did not think that what she had done to all these people throughout the years was now the reason for getting tortured. It could not! None of these were related to what was happening now!
But what if it was? What if all was connected? What if she had to pay the price now? This was all her fault after all. Noone elses? Her captors were only the ones doing the actions. The actions of what? How was this connected to all those people? THey were unrelated!
The actions of justice. There was someone somewhere pulling all those strings. And all those strings went back to one place. It was her fault after all. She had to pay for it.
When they left her alone she started talking to herself. Atleast that was how it seemed. She was talking to Alan about it. Alan who had always watched out that every action...had a reason. That it was justified. The image of Alan in Cora's mind got more and more distorted with every passing hour of the madness she was caught in. It was the only way some part of her managed to explain all the horrors happening. But Cora disagreed. Cora did not want to listen to what Alan said. And slowly...slowly but steadily Cora's mind parted again. It slowly broke into even more pieces than what it was in before.
At this point it did not even matter if someone else was in the room with her. If she had the breath to talk she would talk. She would have conversations with Alan. Alan would tell her about what she had to do right, about how the only way to fix it was by changing herself. She had to do what was right in the future, she had to not just kill because she felt like it. She had to justify her actions properly.

Her conversations helped her for a while but her strength and will was fading more and more. The immense hunger she had felt at the beginning had faded completly over days of not recieving food. The bit of water she drank was only when they tried drowning her and as they stopped that she barely recieved enough to survive. The lack of water and loss of blood put her through enough already but they also did not allow her to sleep much. She was unable to walk properly, falling down on her knees every time they made her walk to a different place in the room. She was unable to tell where she was and for how long she had been locked up. Cora recalled the first days and how she had tried counting when a new day started and ended by the little bit of light that shined into the room through a barricaded window. It was over a week for sure, but she could not tell for how long, it was no surprise given she was not able to tell anymore where up and down was once she had fallen over.
And as time continued passing Cora confusion grew more and more. The words coming out of her mouth barely resembled what they were meant as, her thoughts were scrambled and her personalities even more so. Where was she? WHO was she?

With laughter her captors left the room, leaving Cora on the chair they had rebound her to. She felt the need to cry of the pain they had left her in, but she could not. Her eyes were completly dried up and not because she had cried alot recently but because she had not had anything to drink for two or three days. Cora's head fell forward and she stared into nothing, her eyes and expression were completly empty. Like the dark windows of an abandoned building. Similar to the former house, noone was home in Cora's head either. Her mind was blank. Her head usually filled to the brim with personalities was completly uninhabitated. Her thoughts gone, and so was her will to continue living. If there would be an opportunity for her to kill herself she would take it. But she could not. She was not able to walk, let alone have the strength to hold a knife in her hand to slit her own throat.
Unlike Cora, her heart was doing its best to keep her surviving. It was beating rapidly, pumping the remaining thickend up blood through her body. Cora could hear her own pulse in the darkness and shifted her own body weight a bit further behind to easen the pain on her hands atleast for a short moment.
The roap she was bound with had dug deep into her flesh on both her wrists and ankles. Her usual slim and lean body resembled a skeleton more than a human and her ribs were visible with every shallow breath she took.
Cora closed her eyes and shifted her naked body back, she just wanted to sleep. That was all she wanted to do. Sleep and never wake up again.
The moment she had leaned back and accidentally moved her own hands her tiredness was gone and pain was all she could feel. She felt the urge to vomit at the thought of what they had done to her hands and about her only meal in all those days. Cora looked next to the chair. She was sitting in a dried puddle of blood but the chair was in a puddle of dried up vomit.
If it would be brighter in the room you could see that in the small pool of dried up liquid were two fingers. The bones from one of them were seperated from its skin. The other one was stuck in the dry, green, acidic mass still intact.
Cora's stomach started acting up and the bit of vomit that was left in it started running down her mouth and over her chin. Her head dropped onto her chest again, she did not have the strength to keep it up anymore. She tried to ignore the pain from one of her other fingers as good as she could. Atleast she would not have to worry about that one for long anymore, it was only attached by a few tendons.
She vomited again but this time she was unable to get anything out of her empty stomach. Cora closed her eyes once again.
They were probably the driest part of her body, given that she was covered in a film of sweat and or blood.
Closing her eyes had two benefits: the first one being that atleast the visual halluzinations disappeared and the other one being that her headache got better. She was used to headaches given her long hair but these were not caused by that. They could not either, given they had shaved her head completly. Cora's breathing got shallower as her conciousness slowly slipped away.
Her sleep did not last long, Cora was woken up by her own screams from her nightmares. Her breathing was heavy and her chest hurt more than ever, she felt as if her heart was going to jump out of her body any time.
Her body started to tremble uncontrollably. She just wanted to sleep, she was unbelievably tired but she could not. Cora hated herself, she hated what they had done to her, she hated the her former client's rage as they had cut her face, she hated the nurse that stitched her up again because he did not want her 'ruined', she hated the concern the nurse had for her. But she did not have the strength to get actively angry at them, she did not have the strength to keep her head up how would she ever get the strength to fight against them anymore? All she could do right now was sit in this chair and let them do what they wanted. She could not fight against them cutting her up, she could not fight against them getting a belt and whipping her with it and neither could she fight against all the other unspeakable things they did to her.

Cora's conciousness slipped away once again, her body crumpled down in the chair and the roaps only dug deeper into her flesh as she fell into a dreamless sleep.

Wolves and Men, Part IV - Fresh Scars (closed: Herdir, Mitsuo, Cornix) Empty Re: Wolves and Men, Part IV - Fresh Scars (closed: Herdir, Mitsuo, Cornix)

The sight of Cora was terrifying. Auth rushed over to the chair in a flash, unsheathing one of his knives. His mind quickly went into the cold state, where he did not truly process the horror of what he was seeing. As such, his first move was to quickly, and cleanly cut the tendon still holding her last remaining finger, as to spare her the pain. Next up, he slashed the ropes holding her down, and caught her near-lifeless body. He quickly covered her with his coat, then lifted her up in his arms.

As he watched her, in this defiled, broken down state, Auth's anger was boiling beneath the sheet of ice of his mind. Drawn and quartered for Marvin. That's what the pig would get. But there was one more. There was a rat somewhere, someone that knew Cora worked on this and someone that told it to the pig. That rat would have to pay for this too. Auth was not a monster; he won't torture him. He'll murder him publicly. He'll find a way, and excuse. He'd bring him to the law. More than any time before, Auth wished to be his father. That's what he needed now. He needed the strength of Adar, the power of the Demon of the MP.

Bit by bit, the pieces of the plan started falling into place. The connections started appearing. His future allies were being determined, his future enemies as well. More than anything, though, he needed power. The power to protect those he cared about, like Cora, like Alan. The power to relentlessly punish those that were his enemies, like Marvin. So far, he realized, he merely played games within upper society. It was time Auth truly take up the mantle of his name. Truly become the monster his father was, and surpass him.

This had been it.

The last drop.

In a flash, Auth's rage crystallized. They would all pay. They would all bow. They would all not dare touch those he protected.

Time to become more than just a shadow of the demon. Time to be the demon. To be the one casting such a shadow that the demon cowered in it. Demon's Shadow. That shadow that they all will tremble in fear in.

Auth. Shadow.
Vi Rauco. Of the Demon.

Renn stood in the doorway, his face trying to show multiple emotions but failing at it. Cora was actually broken. Whoever was sick and twisted enough to manage it... actually managed it. She didn't tough it out- and he didn't blame her either. The sight of her was awful.

The Snake was still taken aback as he watched the Crow rush over to Miss Wolf's aid. König went to take a step into the room but was instantly repelled by the smell.

Instead, he watched. Eyes slightly wide. Pondering as to why Auth had stopped. He could probably guess, considering how desperate he was to find Cora.

This trip to Mitras was totally ruined now.

Renn almost was sick himself but he sucked it up. He repositioned his stance, confused at his sudden feeling of uncomfort. Whoever tortured Cora was certainly good at it. Too good.

He coughed, keeping his focus on Auth.
"If you want to get her out of her out of here, I could stay behind and cut through each person who remains in this building until they give me some form of information. Name, place or reason."

His fists clenched. He, for once, felt scared. He had felt scared before but never like this. This was a similar fear to how children fear the boogeyman. There was some... entity... that could ruin one's existence.

And Renn wanted to get their attention.

Wolves and Men, Part IV - Fresh Scars (closed: Herdir, Mitsuo, Cornix) Empty Re: Wolves and Men, Part IV - Fresh Scars (closed: Herdir, Mitsuo, Cornix)

Cora got woken up by someone blasting the door open...or anyhow entering with the most sound possible. She did not even want to turn her head. This was just another evil game of her mind. This was not real. This was her brain trying to get her to despair even more by crushing any bit of hope she had still left.
Two men entered the room, she could tell by the sounds of their steps. She just wanted to cry. This was too cruel. It was not fair that her mind played these games with her. It was just not fair in any way what so ever. Making her believe there was a chance of rescue? Only to crush that hope again later. Break it into tiny pieces. Maybe the despair from that bit of hope crushed would finally be enough to kill her.
Cora turned her head slightly, just enough to tell apart the silluettes better. No. No. No. Auth? And Renn? No. What's next? Alan would come to her rescue? Why did her mind do this to her? Making her imagine the people she-
Auth touched her. Auth touched her. Auth touched her! He was real! This was not another cruel dream of hers! This was real! There...there...this could end. This could end now! This-
He cut her finger off. Cora did not have the strength to make any form of sound. It would not have been a sound of pain but one of relief. Same when he cut the ropes off. The pain got worse than before when they were tugged away, ripping away the dried blood and with it opening the wounds again. Cora did still not make any sound.

Auth took his coat, wrapped her in it and lifted her up. The leather coat was cold but soft. Very soft. She turned her head slightly towards him. The bird mask was moving, speaking to her. She could not tell what he was saying. He was a bird after all! Cora did not know how to talk with birds! The soft song of the bird still comforted her until she realized it was a crow at which point it distorted unpleasantly and she decided it was best not to look at it.

Cora tilted her head towards the door as good as she could and took a look at Renn. She could not really tell anything about him right now. His face was too far away and too blury for her to see properly. The only way she anyway could only tell him apart was by the fact his skin was so white.

Her head fell back into her original position, more or less staring at the ceiling. She would not be able to move much more without using way too much strength for what she intended to use.
"End it...please...", she said quietly and closed her eyes. It would be easier if he just killed her now. She did not really want to live anymore.

Auth slowly paced towards the door, carrying Cora as softly as he could. At the same time, however, his senses were sharper than ever before in his life, ready to spring like a coil at the slightest trace of a threat. He wouldn't have wanted to be on the receiving end of what his reflexes would make him do.

Auth nodded to what Renn said, but proceeded to contradict him. "I'll take her somewhere safe. You feel free to do as you like, but you won't get anything out of the guards" Auth took a second and reconsidered that statement. "Well, maybe satisfaction. But the one behind this is already doomed. His trial is in two days. That's why I needed the Watcher." Auth sighed. It was to himself. Should he tell Renn about his own current problem? Well, could it hurt? "The greater issue is whomever ratted Cora out. There's someone there, someone smart and someone stealthy that wanted to see this done."

He kept walking slowly. Cora was so freakishly light. It was unnatural. Auth was worried. She would probably recover, physically, but mentally...

"End it...please..."

Exactly. Her mind would never be the same as before, and it wasn't like she was the healthiest in the first place. Auth's took off his mask, his arm easily able to reach around Cora's thin body and to his face. Then, he spoke in his softest voice.

"Sleep, Cora. I'm here for you now. You'll pull through." He smiled weakly. "Just rest. Tomorrow will be a better day. I promise."

He held himself from sighing again. Well, he would have to send a messenger to his mother. As much as she was in mourning, she was still a stellar doctor, and would take care of Cora. In fact, it would do them both good, as it would allow Sangwa to finally occupy her mind with something.

"You feel free to do as you like, but you won't get anything out of the guards... well, maybe satisfaction. But the one behind this is already doomed. His trial is in two days. That's why I needed the Watcher."

Well, at least it was confirmed that Renn was allowed to take each guard's life away in any manner he wanted. That'll definitely be fun. He didn't worry so much about whoever was behind Cora's torture now that he knew Auth was on them. He just hoped Auth gave them a slow and painful treatment.

"End it...please..."

The three words escaped as a whisper from Cora's lips.
Renn ignored them, not out of his usual spite and disregard for them. That was only if they were unimportant. He ignored these words because they actually hurt him. Hearing Cora asking for death sent a shiver down Renn's spine and he clenched his jaw. All witty words were nowhere to be found inside the Snake's skull.

He let Auth walk by and watched the unmasked Crow retrace the steps of which they came. Hesitating, Renn waited until the two were at a distance in front of him before following behind. He would escort them out before turning his attention to anyone who still breathed inside this building, just in case someone found some courage.

After Auth had left the building with Cora in his arms, Renn shut the doors in front of him, spinning on his hell to the face the empty hallway that layout in front of him.

He whistled.

"Oh, boysssss! Who wantsssss to come out and play!?"

--

After the last scream was abruptly cut short, Renn retrieved his dagger from the guard's throat before looking around the room. He noticed a piece of parchment and a quill. Only some sort of person with power, money or both would use a quill. Despicable. Renn grabbed both paper and pen, dipping the quill in the pool of blood that covered the floor before writing on the parchment as he made his way to the basement, stepping over the scattered corpses as he went.

At the basement, König finished his message and left the parchment on the chair Cora was tied to, dropping the quill on the floor. He read over his note, checking its message was clear.

It read:
"To anyone who may come back to read this,
I simply tell you this:
Keep a constant eye over your shoulder.
-♛"

A half smirk appeared on the Alpha's face. He turned and followed the steps Auth took to exit, making his own leave. As he did so, he stuffed his hands in his coat pockets, his shoes squelching and leaving red footprints.
Removing the blood from his clothes would take a while.

Renn raised his hood over his head and opened the door before stepping outside. He carefully closed the door behind him as he slowly made his way back to the main street.
