Self Training Session

Post by Safer Sephiroth on 30/6/2017, 04:10

It was early in the bright morning when Safer decides to self-train using no trees but only the Titan wooden figure itself so that way he has a skill advantage over the other trainees. (This technique improves combat strategies and planning)

Safer walks outside of a store within the inner district going to an open field nearby to train by himself. Once he gets to his destination, he stops in the middle of the low-grass open field and says to himself "This is the perfect spot for it." After he says that, Safer begins to stick multiple wooden stick figures of a shape of a titan into the ground to use on for training. Once implemented on the ground completely he takes out his 3DMG and starts to run at the wooden figure with the swords by his side in each hand. Once close enough, he jumps in the air having the 3DMG's attachers stick onto the wooden figure Titan and then flys towards it quickly. He starts to attack the wooden figure flying back and forth slicing it at which is making the wood slice off causing the figure to get shorter with every slice.

Safer goes in for his last attack at the figure and when close enough, starts to rapidly slice the rest of the wooden figure into small separate pieces all in one single attack. After he was done attacking the figure, he makes his way into the sky and then onto the ground for a landing so he can take a breather. He looks at the figure which is now into pieces on the ground near his feet. Safer realizes that he now unlocked an ability or skill that he should do in upcoming missions and things of that nature. He looks down at his blades then back up another one of the wooden figures he's planted into the ground. Determined with an idea, Safer started to unattach one of the swords from the 3DMG so that he can learn how to defend himself when a risky situation like this came to be where he only had one sword to use.

After the second sword is completely unattached to his gear it falls onto the ground and he begins to attack the other-yet-bigger wooden figure of a Titan. Using the same strategy, Safer was able to confidently take down the Titan in a reasonable fashion and amount of time. This time, for his plan of attack, he aimed and struck at the feet of the Titan so that it can fall down and he can deal with it more safely. The big wooden figure's bottom was sliced off making it fall down on its face. As it was on the ground facing downward, he swung by and got near its face on the ground and chopped off its head. Once he was done training he just sat there looking at all the wooden pieces on the ground. At the time, Safer didn't know anybody could've been watching but he had a strong feeling someone already was. He didn't seem to mind it though for his focus wasn't too brag or gain any attention of anyone. It was safe to say he was just minding his own business, trying to get better in combat so he can prove his own self worth and gain the respect and honor he so desires out of protecting the city.

Re: Self Training Session

Post by Alan Katlewande on 30/6/2017, 23:12

Alan was pretty damn tired when he stumbled his way out of the open doors of the Military Police headquarters. He was up all night, going over case files and reports. His head was swarming with theories, worries and plans, only slightly slowed by the fact he'd been awake for so long. By the time he decided to call it a day, it was already day, sadly. Thankfulky, this was Alan's day off in the week. He could finally treat himself to some well-deserved sleep.
However, he first had to pick up something from the city. Something special.
Alan began walking through the city, squinting in the early morning light.

Alan smiled slightly as he paced through the neat streets of the inner city. He liked seeing the happy faces of the passer-bys, the pretty and organized cobblestones of the roads. Still, he had not forgotten the rest of humanity, those who work hard just to get by, those he grew up with. Alan tightened his ragged scarf around his neck. The early morning was a bit too chilly for his taste.
Alan finally made it to his destination - the local tailor.
"Ah! Welcome!" the moustached man greeted Alan as he walked in "Your order is ready!"
Alan stared with a smile as the tailor presented his creation - a modified coat, with the color and design of the Military jacket. By all laws, a completely legal and fancy version of the Military uniform, and by basic standards - a longer version of the jacket. It has the same colour as design, but it went down all the way to the ankles. A warm coat for colder times.
"Thank you." said Alan politely as he paid the man and left the store, wearing his new coat. He couldn't help but feel more impressive with it, and he felt warmer already.

His thoughts of temperature were abandoned, however, when he spotted someone training in a nearby field on what looked like titan dummies. Alan stepped closed as he stood in the shade of a nearby building and re-adjusted his glasses. He could see that the man was a member of the Survey Corps - already a rare sight in the inner walls. And his technique...
Alan stared in awe as he saw the soldier flip through the air, hooking onto the titan dummy with ease. He had such raw talent, such a natural form. Alan knew he wasn't nearly close to the level of skill this soldier had, despite being among the top of his class. Beyond discipline, the soldier simply had a rage, a cnack of skill, that was unlike anything Alan had ever seen.

When the soldier finished his training and sat on the ground, staring at the chopped up pieces of wood, Alan began slowly walking up to him. He had to know who this person was. Perhaps, even, get them to train him. He hoped they wouldn't hate him too much for being Military Police.
"Ahem." said Alan politely, as he stood a few feet behind Safer "You are quite the show. I've never seen someone pull those sort of moves off before. Are you self taught?"
Alan smiled, hoping he was not being too awkward, like usual.

Safer looks at the wooden pieces on the floor for a bit until hearing someone's voice nearby behind him. A males voice it seemed. However, it didn't run through his mind to look back at the person as he knew he wasn't going to get attacked or anything for just minding his own business. Safer looks back halfway, turning his head as he says back to the unknown person behind him, "I am. The combat technique I use is much different from the one trained by the higher ranks. Theirs seems to be more time consuming and more dependent on other things such as houses and large tree branches when in reality, we won't always have those nearby. Also, I figured something out; that if you depend on the right amount of speed and aggression than fighting with one sword isn't so bad as it seems. How about you? Are you self-taught stranger?" Once he says this, he begins calmly waiting for the person's reply; not sure who is behind him but willingly is curious who it is and why he wants to know if Safer is self-taught or not.

It was quite amazing to see that Safer did all of that in such an aggressive and quick fashion yet he doesn't seem to be out of breathing or disorganized. His training and methods seemed to be working.

Alan stood and listened to the soldier talk about his methods. He had a serious and determined tone, that slightly frightened Alan. Not mechanical, but not empathetic. He sounded almost like someone who gave away his humanity to become something more.
When Alan was finally asked about his own training, he paused for a bit to ponder the question. He stood silent for a moment, coat slightly flapping in the early morning breeze.
It would be wrong to say that Alan is self-taught, because most of his physical training was during his trainee years. That being said, he had spent quite a while training by himself in forests and other remote areas. Nobody taught him anything then... But he hadn't really taught himself anything new, either. He just trained enough to keep his skills as sharp as possible without any real dangerous encounter.
Alan has reached his answer.
"I cannot say that I am self taught, no." he replied, trying not to sound too embarrassed by his answer "To be honest, I'm not even that good. I guess it's for the better that I'm not self taught, then."
Alan smiled sadly to himself, as if he was in on a joke nobody has told.

Alan analyzed the scout who's back was still turned to him. He appeared to be more or less the same age as Alan, packing much more muscle and body mass. His eyes seemed determined, as if something was always wrong. Again, Alan was slightly frightened by that.
"I - I don't believe I got your name. I'm Alan, by the way;" he gestured with his hand in a friendly and awkward way "Military Police captain."
Alan hoped this strange man hadn't found him too nosy. Especially not a frightening man like him.

OOC: This takes place before the outside mission happens which is called Operation Heimdallr, in case anyone wanted to know or was confused about it.

Safer hears the man say his name is Alan and that he is a Military Police Captain. This captures his attention so he decides to stand up and then turns around to face Alan. Safer looks at him with interest, beginning to say "Names Safer...Safer Sephiroth. So you're the one in charge of the Military Police, interesting. You wouldn't happen to know of my father, Tee who was in the Military for 50 years until retirement would you?" as he steps a tad bit closer to Alan with ease as his 3DMG is still on his sides. After he said that birds chirped and flew above the two as if they were a signal for something good.

It was clear that Safer was looking for common interest between the two of them. The early sunlight blared its bright light onto his back causing Safer to have a shadow near Alan's feet. It was fascinating to see these two in a field getting along as it's obvious that they are both from different positions in society. Safer ignored that fact though and treated him with the same amount of respect he would give to any soldier or citizen. Hopefully, Alan would become one of his friends so that he would have high ranking acquaintances to talk to about anything. Safer stood there with his hands by his side simply waiting for Alan's response hoping he'd say yes to the question.

Others in the distance who was also in the Inner District were seen just walking around minding their own business as these two talked to one another. It was interesting to notice how Safer just showed almost impeccable skills with the 3DMG and didn't brag at all about it to Alan. He kept his cool about it as if he's learned so much yet wanted to be respected for that.

Re: Self Training Session

Alan eyed Safer cautiously as he stepped closer. Hos first instinct was to pull out a knife and protect himself, but he found the scenario of Safer attempting to attack him highly unlikely. Besides, if Safer were to attack Alan, chances are Alan's head would be flying through the air before he knew it.
Alan was also intrigued by Safer Sephiroth's... Peculiar name. His manner of speaking was also different. He'd read about it in a forbidden book once - long ago, there were people who looked different, skin tone and body shape, and also spoke different languages and had different skills. Of course, since the titan attack, everyone mostly looked the same - most of these 'other people' didn't make it. Could Safer be a descendant of them? Was that the key to his natural skill at maneuvering?

When Alan was asked about Tee, he chuckled.
"I am sorry to dissapoint, but I can't say that I have heard of Tee Sephiroth. I'm... Despite my rank, the truth is I am still rather new in the military, years-wise.
Same goes for being in charge of the Military Police - the one in charge is Commander Nile Dok. My say is pretty small, all in all."

Alan eyed the 3DMG on Safer. It looked to be in good condition, which slightly surprised him.
"Your appearance and gear indicate that you're a newer soldier;" Alan deduced out loud "But your skill suggests you're a far more experienced soldier."
Orion's face showed up in Alan's mind. He brushed it away.
"How long exactly have you been in part of the Scouts, if you don't mind me asking?"
Alan was secretly hoping that Safer would be a newer soldier. That would increace the chances of him agreeing to train him, should he ever ask.

Re: Self Training Session

Post by Safer Sephiroth on 2/7/2017, 21:46

After Alan asks Safer if he was a newer soldier or not, Safer replies "Actually, I am one of the newer scouts around. Well... Not exactly new to 3D Maneuver Gear and all, but I'm afraid that's a whole other story." He shrugs after saying that stopping on that topic quickly as if he was hiding something about his past. At this point, Safer notices that Alan is analyzing his appearance and is concerned with it. If Alan knew the things about him that he wanted no one else to know, then Safer would be in so much trouble. Going outside of the walls by himself without permission and also with Scouts gear equipped and a horse. You'd think someone would notice this happen since it's been more than a single time.

Safer quickly realizes he simply can't tell Alan any more about his past for that may be his undoing. With Alan being the Captain of the MP's, he'll most likely go to jail in a second for what he's done. Only if Alan was fine with that kind of information... Safer snaps back to reality and starts asking, "How many times how have you been outside the walls?" He hopes that by asking this, he'll see how experienced Alan is with the layout of the land outside of the walls. He starts to also hope it's a higher number such as ten so that Safer himself wouldn't get judged harshly on how many times he's secretly been out there.

The time's he's been out there were always kept secret and to himself, as it was a strange thing to hear already from someone's mouth, to be out there alone is basically a wish for death. All to find out, that he wasn't ever actually and truly alone out there. Even with Safer's impressive skills, he wouldn't be able to hold his own in a Titan horde. However, it's made known that they are people out there...Somewhere in the distant lands that have traveled alone before and can with ease. It's unknown who they were and if they were Titan-shifters or not but anyone's guess is good as yours. Safer was now waiting for Alan's reply, curious as to what he might say to that question.

Re: Self Training Session

Post by Alan Katlewande on 2/7/2017, 23:33

Alan's expression was friendly, but as always, the gears in his head were ticking.
It appeared to him that Safer grew tense after he asked the question. Perhaps it was related to somr accident or trauma he had experienced? It was too soon to know for sure. In any case, Alan was slightly surprised to hear that Safer was a new soldier. His skill showed none of that - it was like watching a hardened veteran. Alan's eyes grew wide. Just how dangerous was this greencloak?
Then Safer asked Alan about how many times he has been outside the walls.

Alan did his best to control his reaction. However, he couldn't help but tense up a little. It was almost as if Safer could read his thoughts.
Alan has never been outside the walls, but that was far from by choice - he had been planning to sneak outside in the upcoming days, just to see how easy it would be. He was still high-set on disguising himself and joining the Survey Corps on their expeditions, but he did not feel prepared yet. To do so he would need to to have the physical capability of handling titans more or less by himself, and he did not feel fast or powerful enough just yet. For now, he continued his secret training in order to one day fulfill his dream.

But it was not time yet. He had to convince this soldier that he was like any other MP - a selfish, cowardly bastard that hid behind the walls while his fellow soldiers die.
Alan did not like to trick this person, but he felt that it was the smart thing to do to avoid suspicion. Besides, he wanted to see how convincing he could be. He has been practicing that a lot.
Alan forced his expression to turn cold and mocking.
"Outside the walls? I've never been there, of course;" he said in a surprised voice "Why would I ever leave the safety of the inner walls? Isn't that what you scouts are for?"
Alan eyed Safer with a respectless expression. In truth, he hated what he said and what he was doing. However, it was a necessary evil to ensure that Safer, or anyone else listening, would never suspect him of being the Grayblade.

Safer respond's to Alan's question with "I guess that's true. However, everyone has their own desires to leave this place at least once and see what it's like outside the walls. For as long as I can tell, people have been afraid of the outside. That's going to change though when I become in charge of a squad." He unattached the 3DMG off from his body which causes it to hit the floor as he stretches moving his body side to side once, with his muscles stretching out so that he can be more flexible in the time being. He was clearly relaxing his muscles from carrying the 3DMG so much since he's been using it a lot.

However, it wasn't obvious to Alan but the Survey Corps are not required to always wear the 3DMG.That concludes that Safer stretching was a small hint that he wear's the gear more often than the other soldiers. Way more often. After stretching, Safer says "Ah, these things really does kill you. Haha. If only it weighed less, my team would be able to maneuver around more effieciently with ease you know?" He looks at the 3DMG on the ground then back at Alan seeing what his reply would be.

Not too many people know this about Safer but he's one of the very few people who can actually be proficient at using just one sword against Titans. This is all starting to make sense, his unique blood type and name says it all. For some reason, Safer was thinking Alan was of the same blood type as well even though he wasn't as strong or fast as him. We'll all just have to see about that then. Time will tell.

When Safer responded, Alan was looking at him curiously. The soldier completely glistened over his provocative remark, and responded calmly, talking of the will to go outside. Has he missed his point completely? Regardless, Alan couldn't help but respect this man, a soldier of honour. He may or may not be crazy, but he is a good man. Such men are all too scarce in the Military Police.
Alan smiled when he heard of Safer's ambitions to become a squad leader. He was an earnest person, who wanted to make s difference.

When Safer remarked about the weight and size of thr 3DMG, Alan was reminded of Mitsuo and his works.
"I dunno if you'll get the chance to see him," Alan spoke "But there's a scout by the name of Mitsuo Shimura who happens to also be a mechanic. I'm nearly certain he's been working on a lighter version of the 3DMG. You should give his workshop, 'Shimura Works', a visit."
Alan looked up, and saw the sun was looming higher than he wanted. He was suddenly reminded of how weary he was. The tiredness almost overwhelmed him.
"I kind of need to be on my way now." Alan said to Safer "But it was nice meeting you. You're a good soldier. I will see you some other time."
And with that, Alan started heading off, his cloak trailing behind slightly. There was so much Alan wanted to do, but for now, sleep was neccesary.

"Alright, fair enough. I guess I'll see you later then, have a good day." Safer says as he notices Alan starting to walk away. He was determined to one day go to that shop Alan suggested to him to see what he can do for the 3DMG. The shop owner also sounded like a really interesting person so it was definitely on his to-do list. But for now, training for further missions sounded more like a plan. Although one thing is for sure, he sparked Alan's interest. As soon as he's walking away Safer begins to lay down on the grass to rest for a bit before training again.

Shiganshina had slowly crept over his mind once again but he ignores the idea and continues to rest. It seems the time to take it back was not now but maybe soon, for he doesn't know. Alas, Safer had so much more to explore and discover in this huge society.

END.
