Name: Avila Ernestine Falk

Age: 16

Group: Survey Corps

Rank: Soldier

Appearance:
Avila Ernestine Falk New_aot_oc_reference__by_deerqult-dbyg5rt
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 110 lbs
Hair style: Short and shaggy- her hair is unruly and VERY curly. It's too short to be put up and too uncontrollable to easily run a brush through it very often, so it's usually stuck looking like a bit of a mess.
Hair Color: Reddish auburn
Eye Color: Icy blue-silver
Skin Tone: Very pale and fair; her cheeks and nose are naturally rosy along with her knees, shoulders, and elbows. As you could imagine, she burns easily in the sun and when angry, worked up in general, embarrassed/anxious, or even when laughing, her skin becomes red and blotchy, especially on her face.

Build: Small and lithe with a moderately narrow frame, little to no curves (like no curves bro ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ). Her ribs and spine are somewhat visible. Being raised in the conditions she lived in and then entering the military, there was no time for her body to store enough fat in her body to develop curves. She's built for being fast, silent, and flexible. She also has the muscle to pack a punch as well, though definitely not enough to topple someone much larger and more muscular than her.

Birthmark(s): NA

Scar(s):
Picture of scars on her back:
-Scars on her back; Some are long, some are small, and some overlap. All of them seem deep and look like they'll never fade. These scars are from a distant childhood as a refugee which she doesn't want to remember, but for the sake of knowledge; she received these scars when she attempted to steal bread rations for her and her family, but got caught in the middle of her thievery. Thus, she learned the hard way, which resulted in the marks on her back. Over time these have faded, however, they still are visible a handful of years later.

-Claw mark scar on the right side of her neck- She earned this when she tried scaring off some raccoon when she was 11 and it attacked her- A dumb move on her part.

-Dog bite scars on her lower shoulder and a few on her back as well when she had an unfortunate run in with some freakish fight dogs when she was 8. If her mother hadn't been around with her, she probably wouldn't have been able to fight them off.

Identity: Avila is a rather tricky person to put it into simple terms. She doesn't always strike others as approachable during her first impression, her expression is usually very jejune, wide-eyed, and she can get defensive easily. When she does attempt to speak or engage with someone she isn't familiar with, she lacks the ease and relaxation that most people may naturally have, causing her to come across as socially backward. However, she lightens up considerably and is more comfortable sharing her thoughts with those she considers friends or family, and to become a friend requires a bit of work.
Once you open her up, she is a very doting, playful, and active girl. Depending on who you are, this girl could seem strange, but to others, they will find her to be much more lively, oddly charming (in her own way), and kind.
While concluding all of the above, Avila's fight or flight instinct is strong. Being a naturally instinctive person, by the time she picks up on the severity of the situation, she often only sees those two options. When picking, chances are that she chooses flight over fight. This does happen when fighting titans as well. Fearing the giant beasts so much, Avila would rather avoid conflict in any way that she can. Avila can also be hurt and demoralized very easily due to such a tender heart that she possesses.
She is willing to lie to avoid punishment if she just so happens to get into a bad situation. Because of her ability to act, she isn’t by any means a bad liar, however that doesn’t discount the ability of others to notice her deception.

Preferences:

-Likes:   Being outside, dancing, taking naps, getting letters from her mother and brother, being able to explore, running around barefooted, the feeling of laying on soft grass, climbing trees, and snakes.

-Dislikes: Feeling cornered, puzzles, not having something to do, bitter foods and drinks, cemeteries, being made fun of because of her low intelligence, and not getting the chance to be the center of attention.

-Fears: She has a great fear of swimming (she can't swim for that matter as she was never taught to), surgical operations, dogs, being chased/feeling of being chased or followed, and the idea of dying at the hands of a Titan.

-Goal(s): Her most important and treasured goal is to protect her mother and younger brother in anyway she can. In some cases, she unconsciously is trying to be as great as her father once was.

Backstory: Avila Ernestine Falk was born on July 5th, 835, in Wall Maria's southwest town of Doberan. Avila's mother was a local apothecary, and her father was a retired Survey Corps soldier (discharged after an incident involving a Titan, which left him with serious mental trauma).

Growing up, it became apparent that Avila had ADHD, something which was inherited from her father's side. Her mother was able to pick up on her rambunctious daughters' symptoms of excessive energy, fidgeting, and lack of focus, and came up with a medicine to enhance her attention span and keep her calmer (something Avila still takes every day).
Otherwise, her childhood was a rush of excitement, running through fields, playing pretend, and tumbling around with the other kids in town. Her father was someone she didn't see much of, as he stayed in his office most of the day, researching about the outside world, unknown to her and her mother. Avila's father died of unknown causes when she was six, and her newly born brother wasn’t even one year old at the time.

Casja, her mother, lost the will to work, and ran out of money fast, for they were never very rich. Desperate, she hooked up with a man she met in the local tavern, by the name of Emeric Górski, a local butcher, and a rather sleazy man. He had money the family needed to stay afloat, and thus, he became the stepfather to Avila and Zelig. The Falk family was under his abusive thumb for the following years up until the fall of Wall Maria.
In the panic, Avila's mother was trampled, causing her to be paralyzed from the waist down. Physically unable to carry the woman very far, the two children were lucky enough for a soldier in the area to be around to pick her up and take her and her children to Trost where refugees were being evacuated to. Emeric went missing in the crowd and was never seen by the family again.

The following years as refugees were harsh; Avila worked in the fields like the rest of those evacuated from Wall Maria, not by choice, to say the least. Avila often resorted to lying and petty thievery to help her younger, much weaker brother and handicapped mother, get by. Because Zelig was so frail, he was able to earn his keep in the refugee hospital by helping out some of the nurses take things to patients. As for Avila, she would steal other people’s rations and valuables to sell for money or extra resources. Avila’s luck ran out at about age 12 when she was caught by some of the soldiers stealing from the ration supplies; they pulled her out and whipped her as punishment, as well as kicked and hit her into submission, leaving her bloody, beaten, and half-dead. That was the end of her stealing, but the wounds seemed to take forever to heal.

Casja was housed in a small center for permanently injured refugees in the Trost District, and remained there with Zelig. Once Avila was of age a few months after her beating, she joined the 104th Trainees so she wouldn't have to work in the fields anymore, and perhaps learn more about her father in the process. Still hurt and healing from her run-in with the soldiers, she was awfully shy and secretive about herself and her body. She kept her wounds bandaged, and often showered long after everyone else. It was clear that she was hiding something, and even as she was questioned by her superior, she found herself often lying to keep herself away from being deemed unqualified. It took almost an entire four months for her wounds to finally heal, only to leave gross, jagged scars behind. Still reluctant to let anyone see them, she continued her secretive regime in fear of receiving ridicule from her peers. Over the course of the three years, Avila managed to display her talents and make it through her training, though not enough to make it into the highly regarded Top Ten.

During the Battle of Trost, it was that very event that changed her mind on whether or not she would join the Survey Corps or the Garrison Regiment (those being her only options, as being an MP was out of the question). Least to say, she was absolutely horrified by what transpired- the fear of what was left of her family being eaten, the fear of losing her own life, and even seeing her peers die around her like flies. If it weren't for her agility, she most certainly would not have lived. Living by a hair, and making it to her graduation, she made up her mind that it would be better if she went ahead and faced her fears in order to better protect her mother and younger sibling. She joined the Survey Corps.

Extra: Avila's favorite thing to do is to play the banjo! She, in fact, had brought one with her to the Trainee Camp, an item she received from an elderly woman who was in the same hospital room as her and her family. Having a few years of practice under her belt, she considers herself to have quite the fiddly fingers. Avila is also a big fan of ampbibians and reptiles as she finds them "cute in a weird way". She has no fear of catching frogs nor snakes!

Not a mod/admin so I can't approve this app, but damn! This was a rather unique and well-told bio. Not too long, not too short, gives a great understanding of the character. Good job!

As an admin, I'd have to say here what's not okay in the app and all. Unfortunately, I can't be doing that job. The app is absolutely spectacular!
