Ginger Rose

Okay lemme see if im doing this right.

Name: Ginger Rose (Prefers Ginger)

Age: 16 (June 12)

Group: Rogue (Specifically a thief/murderer)

Appearance: She is rather short (4' 9" lol) and also *ahem* as flat as the wall in my bedroom. She has dark green eyes, dark orange hair, and likes to keep it cut short. Her preferred clothing set is an all-black set consisting of a simple cloak with pockets on the insides of the cuffs for knives, leather knee-high boots with small knife compartments, and a plain brown shirt with matching pants.

Due to verbal and physical abuse nearly her whole life, she is extremely sensitive about people touching her and how they see her. Ginger is blunt and cynical to strangers, and when on missions she is straight-laced and focused.
Most people view her as the resident introvert and tend to avoid her, which she likes because she doesn't want to hurt others or for them to hurt her.
When out on the field, she wastes no time getting the job done, that's why most people come to her for jobs. However, she refuses to assassinate innocent people, children, or young teenagers under 18. The only people she's willing to kill are major crime lords, drug dealers, traffickers, etc.
While she does keep a stoic or even uninterested expression in public, she cares deeply for people and even mourns for the ones she kills.
Whenever she gets alone time, she spends it drawing or writing small stories about fictional characters in a fictional setting. She also has a special talent for cooking and loves to sell baked goods on the streets.
Her closest friend, Emma, once said,"She can make an old, stale piece of bread taste like a slice of heaven! It's crazy how good her food is, even if she's just using a couple carrots and a potato!"
Ginger flinches away from physical touch, and tends to shy away from loud, extroverted people.

Preferences:
-Likes: Not much, but she does enjoy a good melon. She warms up to people quickly when offered fruit. She also loves birds and rodents, and finds them fascinating to draw. Offer her a pretty knife and she'll want to marry you.
She also likes cooking and baking for people, as well as making beautiful art to see their faces light up in a smile.

-Dislikes: Anything with nuts, like peanut butter, and mushrooms.
When going on missions, she refuses to take narrow spaces like pipes or small alleyways to get around.

-Fears: Anything insect, beetles in particular. She can't stand tight spaces, either, if stuck in a tight space she has a panic attack.
She isn't afraid of the dark itself, but prefers to stick to slightly lighter areas so she can see if there's an ambush.

-Goals: She hopes to visit the outside of the walls through any means possible; Crystal told her about all kinds of things outside that definitely aren't behind the walls. She also wants to start a small bakery or an art shop.
She would like to be a part of the Scout Regiment, too, so she can avenge her father...but she fears that any friends she might make there will shun her after they find out her past.

Backstory:
Ginger is the youngest of four children. Her three older brothers and her mother were all abusive to her and her father. Her mother was a drunkard who never came home on some nights and her brothers were Military Police who beat her senseless while their dad was away. Not only that, but they verbally abused her over the smallest mistakes; a speck of dirt left on the ground led to one of them telling her she was good-for-nothing.
At the age of five, her brothers told her they had cookies waiting outside for her, and when she ran out to look, they slammed and locked the door behind her. She spent her time wandering the streets until she saw a slightly older girl (Aged 6) tending to her garden. Ginger shyly asked what she was doing, and the older smiled at her, introducing herself as Emma and showing her how to trim a rosebush. Later that day, after the two were sufficiently dirt-coated and still giggling joyfully, Emma invited her to eat dinner with her and her family. Emma's older sister (Aged 23) Crystal cleaned the two messy friends up and served them dinner. Ginger exclaimed that it was the best food she's ever tasted, begging Crystal to teach her to cook. Ever since that day, Ginger and Emma have been best friends.

When her ninth birthday came around, Ginger's father surprised her with a set of pencils and a small pad of paper. Her brothers were out with friends at Military Police headquarters, so she instantly invited Emma over to draw with her, and the pair drew happily for several hours.
Ginger's mom happened to come home that day, drunk, and practically threw Emma out while screaming angry curses and ranting at Ginger. When she saw the pencils and paper, she threw them into the fireplace and told her husband that if he ever got Ginger another gift, she would throw them out of the house permanently and make sure he didn't stay in the Scout regiment.
After that birthday incident, her father started teaching her fighting techniques so that she could defend herself and him from the rest of their abusive family. He did try to defend himself once, but his wife went to the Commander about it and he was thrown in prison for several months.

For her twelfth birthday, her father and Emma both chipped in and got her a knife with glass sapphires embedded into the hilt for better grip (and it looked cool, too!). Ginger was overjoyed by this beautiful gift and asked her dad to teach her how to use it.
Six months after her training started with him, her father was gravely injured out on the field and couldn't help her while he was recovering, so she started improving on old techniques and teaching herself new ones, too.
Three months after she turned fourteen, her dad was declared dead by the Scouts due to unknown causes after they got back from a mission, they didn't even discover a body.
Her brothers just packed and left after hearing the news, and her mother didn't return, so Ginger went to Emma's house to pass on the bad news.

She stayed with Emma for two years, and was loved and treated like an official member of her family. Every night, Emma would share stories she wrote with Ginger and encouraged her to write stories,too. When Ginger told her that she never learned to read or write, Emma took it upon herself to teach her to read and write.
On her sixteenth birthday, she bid her family goodbye and began living on her own.
About two months before her seventeenth birthday, some mysterious stranger asked her to kill a major human trafficker, to which she accepted. Ever since, she works as an assassin by night for the same person and a best friend by day.

Note: She allows requests from just about anyone, and, as said previously, the target must meet specific qualifications. She works solo for one person (she doesn't know his name or what he looks like), and even her best friend doesn't know she's an assassin.
She also would love to have a partner, but doesn't know if there are any that would be willing to work with her.


Extra: Would like ODM gear (Response to Herdir: Yes, Black market ODM gear would be more fitting and she only uses it on missions, she doesn't wear it all the time.)

yes i am an experienced roleplayer but this template was different...

So with the forum being dead and all, the chances of your character ever seeing roleplay are rather small, but I'll judge the app as if that weren't the case.

First and foremost, we've word minimums for identity (it's 200; you have 66) and backstory (500; you have 180); also, you're completely lacking the "goals" sub-section. So that needs to be fixed before I can even consider approving this; rules and all.
Now, the reason we do this word minimum thing is to prevent one-dimensional characters, which yours unfortunately is so far: a cold killer type with a vendetta and temper issue, and that's it.

For Identity, I think you should elaborate not on how she's on the outside, but one the inside; I hardly think that someone who even considers killing someone "because they had a beetle in their home" can be called "uncaring" or "cold". If anything, hotshot, short-fuse accustomed killer sounds more likely, and that dichotomy between image and real inner self can be fuel to a much more interesting character. Also, heck, criminals with no friends don't get anywhere; she ought to have contacts at least for getting paid, so her behaviour towards these people is also relevant.


About backstory, for one thing you should elaborate a bit more on her siblings; I'm still unsure if her relation with them was just usual sibling rivalry and harsh jokes, or actual hatred for some reason. She's killing them now, but does she do that out of a vendetta, out of a psychotic streak, or out of pure necessity? In short, does it affect her, that she's killing her own relatives, in either way? Does it make her feel horrible, or does it make her feel great?
Then as I said before, any rogue that's getting paid has got some sort of contacts; elaborate on those a bit. Where's she finding her jobs? Same provider all the time? Different provider every time? Does she work solo, with a small group, or for a larger crime organization? If she's solo, how does she manage to compete with those larger organizations? And so on. You've a character with no remorse and a life of crime; it's too plain to just call it a day: explain to us the details of it, it's the most interesting part of your character!

Black market ODM gear should be fine, but ODM gear is pretty bulky to just carry around and takes some not insignificant degree of maintenance. And even the military isn't allowed to just use it within city premises, so it'd mark her as ultra-suspicious. (i.e. she can have it stored somewhere for a rainy day/if she needs it, but in general it's way more likely to attract problems than solve them)

Speed/Dexterity/Whatever is called Agility, but you did sum up what it does pretty correctly.


Family name: it's not necessary, but her family seems to be an important part of her backstory, so I'd have a name. Now, whether or not she uses said family name is a different deal; in fact, it can be an interesting identity/backstory point about her either clinging to her name despite all she went through (if she's got a depressive/remorseful angle), or the complete abandonment of the family name (if she's got a rebellious/psychopathic side to her).



...and, uh, yeah. To be honest, I don't really see the point in you fixing any of this, as the forum is dead and almost buried, but I thought that you might appreciate the feedback nonetheless. If nothing else, it'll help your next characters, on more active forms, be more interesting!

Anyway, nice work fleshing out your character! I can't find any faults with it now, and to be honest it's interesting to have a character that's a morally-uptight assassin. Welcome aboard!
