The Walls - distances, travel times, etc.
I was wondering about the travel times between districts, so me and Herdir started calulating (well Herdir started calculating...I can't math).
First of all:
I made this (the map itself should explain everything, if not, feel free to ask)
The numbers used are the actual calculated ones, not the ones in the 'Before the fall' manga
(The size comparison is just roughly made)
So now we have the distances between the walls and the circumference of the walls.
Going by this Link an average horse can travel
64km on level or rolling terrain
48km on hilly terrain
per day assuming you ride on roads and 10 hours per day.
So now, going by the average horse in the attack on titan universe (See this Link ) and again the link I posted before as well you could up the amount of kilometers per day by quite a bit.
The reasons for my assumption are
1. "capable of running for long distances"
2. "A testament to their stamina can be seen when Thomas travels by horse for 12 hours"
3. "They can maintain a constant speed of 35 km/h"
Going by all of this you have:
1. "capable of running for long distances" thus, they can most certainly run for longer than the usual horse can (thus longer than 10hours before)
2. "A testament to their stamina can be seen when Thomas travels by horse for 12 hours" Another proof that they can run longer
3. "They can maintain a constant speed of 35 km/h" The average horse's speed is around 20km/h (long distance)
So. Taking everything by 1.75
112km on level or rolling terrain
84km on hilly terrain
and they are probably able to run 12hours a day (with breaks) without problems and get pushed to about 14-15 hours a day without breaks.
So now you just have the distances per day, how long would it take from district to district?
First of all: it's very hard to say that, because we do not know either the terrain or if they travel over roads. As we do not know that I just assume that the average speed in between Wall Rose is around 75km/day and the average speed in between Wall Sina is around 100km/day.
(You could go even further assuming the weather and all...but...no thanks)
Secondly: I go with the distances mentioned above (in the pretty little thingy I made), so if there are two neighbouring districts I just assume the amount of wall distance as normal distance.
There ya go...tell me if something is wrong or if you disagree
(This took way too long...why am I not sleeping?)
